The Oxfordshire Athletics Network (OAN) is a network of athletics clubs (and other organisations) in Oxfordshire who have come together to drive up the quality of the athletics provision in the network clubs predominantly and the County more generally. It supports clubs to develop in order to meet their own and shared needs now and in the future. It is hoped that by doing this athletics in Oxfordshire will be improved by more effective and efficient clubs which can in turn support increased participation.
Funding comes from England Athletics, our member clubs, events and activities delivered locally. Member clubs support Network activities and committees on a voluntary basis but some paid roles are possible within funding limits.
Example projects and activities include:
- a composite team in the upper age group of the Youth Development League;
- coaching days, local courses and coach development;
- official development and local courses;
- increase adult participation via Run England and taster days.
All we ask from clubs is that they provide a representative who is committed to developing athletes, coaches, and officials. Representatives can bring fresh ideas to the Network but most importantly they should be able to give time and enthusiasm to develop athletics in Oxfordshire in terms of actions. We would welcome you to attend our OAN meetings so that you can see what we are striving to achieve should you wish to do so.
If you feel that you would be interested in joining our exciting venture and help to promote athletics, coaching and officiating at a high level within Oxfordshire, please contact Kay Reynolds with an expressions of interest.
