The ESAA Regional Combined Events competition takes place at Derby on the weekend of 25-26 June. Expectations are high for the 3 complete teams (U15 girls and boys and the U17 women). These 12 athletes along with 2 U17 men 1 U19 man and U19 woman all have realistic expectations of making the national combined events finals in Exeter in September.
The U15 girls are all Radley athletes, Zoe Lovibond, Holly Griffiths-Brown, Kylah Rowlands and Matilda Donaghy. All the girls are in great shape and many PBs are expected in the competition.
The U15 boys are Theo Williams and Ben Johnson (Radley), Jack Judson (Oxford City) and Jack Spencer (Great Milton). Jack Spencer will be the first athlete from Great Milton to represent Oxon Schools.
The U17 girls have last year's national champion Jade O'Dowda (Oxford City), leading the squad. Rebecca Scott (Banbury) and Tori Harte and Petrina Chantler Edmond (Radley) make up a formidable quartet that has every chance of not only winning the regionals but having a great chance of the National title, a feat only managed by 5 other Oxon teams in the history of the ESAA.
As for the individual entries both seniors, Tim Stephens (Oxford City) and Alice Hopkins (Radley) should both progress to the Nationals as probable winners of this round.
The two U17 men, Blake Strickland Bennett and Oliver Stacey (Radley) will both be challenging for a national spot with both making huge step ups in performance this year.
16 athletes in all, with very realistic chances of all making progress.
