Oxon AA organises County Championships and inter-county events, selects County teams and leads athletics in Oxfordshire. More ➜
Dear club secretary
During the course of sorting out the entries for the upcoming county championships, it has become clear that some athletes are either non registered with England Athletics; registered with different name; or are lapsed.
Will all athletes please note that the PREFERRED method of entry is via the website. Although there is a paper entry form, this was intended ONLY for those without computer access.
Can all athletes also remember to insert a PB for each event? This is necessary for proper seeding in track events. At the moment, too many entries are without this important information. It can be entered on line until site closing next Friday.
There has been enough interest for Oxon to accept the invitation to compete in this 8-county event this year. That doesn't mean that more interest will be ignored! As usual, athletes will be chosen on the basis of performance at the County Championships (and other major events).
There is still need for a team manager (or managers) to support the athletes. Again offers of help in this direction will be welcome.
I hope we can put out a good representative team.
To all senior athletes:
Once again Oxon is invited to the above 8 counties fixture. Last year, we failed to support the occasion due to a lack of interest from both athletes as well as anyone willing to support the County by being the Team Manager.
My earlier note to clubs about this fixture got a mixed response – one or two being supportive; and one being very anti- ! I am sure that, if we do not support the fixture this year, our future invites will be withheld. Hence this note is going to both clubs and athletes.
Please note that the original listing of events omitted the Ladies (U15-SW) Pole Vault and the SM Javelin. This has now been corrected and will appear in the programme on the entry website. The SM javelin will be on the Saturday and the PV events will be on the Sunday.
The Oxfordshire 2017 Track & Field Championships (to be held jointly with Buckinghamshire) will be held on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th May 2017
Horspath Road, Oxford.
The entry fee is £5 per event. Entries this year are ON-LINE . The entry system is by opentrack.run, with on-line payment through STRIPE. IT GOES LIVE ON APRIL 1st.
The URL for entries is: https://entries.opentrack.run/2017/oxontf/
The Senior Mens' County team surpassed their result of last year when 9-to-score points were calculated - coming 4th with 1294 points; after North East 399 points, Lancashire 833 points, and Warwickshire 996 points.
Well done to all the team (Maxwell Robinson, Jonathan Cornish, Dan Blake, Aaron Burgess, Tegid Jones, James Eve, Julian Richardson, Matthieu Marshall, and Paul Wileman).
