The Oxon Athletics Network are organising a networking evening for officials on timekeeping and track judging held on 22nd April at Horspath.
If you are interested, please book through Doug Scott (see attachment). This should be a really good opportunity to network, be updated on the new rules as they relate to you, and get information about your discipline that will help your development as an official.
The Inter Counties Senior Fell Champs will be the Ras Moel Eilio on the 14th May 2016 (12.8K 915m climb) starting and finishing in Llanberis. Competitors for the Inter Counties must be selected by the County, and the names of County athletes should be sent to the FRA event co-ordinator.
Oxford has a strong tradition in the 400m, with the men achieving BUCS 4×400 silver and bronze in 2014 and 2013 respectively. Our biggest fixture each year is the Varsity Match against Cambridge. With over 150 years of history between the two athletics clubs, the Varsity match is a spectacle like no other.
Sessions are run on a Tuesday and Thursday evening, and Sunday morning. Ideally, a successful candidate should be able to make it to our training sessions twice per week.
Salary: Hourly coaching rate
Update (17/01/16): the Veteran awards have been added to the team results.
The County Championship XC event was run on Sunday 10 January at a very muddy Horspath course. There were good fields in most age groups and once again, the races were run in conjunction with the third race of the Oxmail XC series.
The final registration details are as follows -
Numbers for athletes entered in the above can be collected from your team managers for Oxon clubs; for individual entries, the numbers will be available from Professor John Sear (who is the referee for the championships). Anyone owing entry fees can give those to JWS or send them by post after the event.
Because of the football at the Kazzam Stadium, all athletes should allow extra time for travel and parking (at BMW).
Oxfordshire Athletics Network is running a field officials networking evening on Friday 22 January 2016 at Horspath from 7-9 pm. Booking details (and event flyer) are attached.
The event will cover:
The 2016 Oxfordshire Cross Country County Championships will take place on Sunday 10 January at Horspath (OX4 2RR) which is near the Eastern bypass around Oxford (along with the third round of the Oxfordshire XC league).
Be aware that the event clashes with the FA Cup fixture between Oxford United and Swansea City – it kicks off at 12 noon. All roads in the Horspath area, the ring road in particular, will suffer from congestion. You are advised to arrive 45 minutes earlier than normal.
On 1st April 2016 the official’s pathway will be updated. There will be no change to the course content or progression, apart from the change of the numbers within the pathway. Officials do not need to do anything; the change will happen automatically and you will be sent a new licence showing your qualifications by post.
