Oxon AA organises County Championships and inter-county events, selects County teams and leads athletics in Oxfordshire. More ➜
It has been pointed out to me that the information sheet indicated that team awards for the veterans would be based on runners from all age groups; not the V1, V2 and V3 groups as occur in some county events.
Hence the first three teams in the Veteran men and women categories are:
Oxford City - 107 points (Jones 5; Richardson 9; Atyeo 21; Grant 72)
Eynsham RR - 123 points (Lewis 19; Storey 29; Pollard 36; Warburton 39)
Woodstock H - 151 points (Bolton 8; Cantwell 41; Linnell 50; Webster 52)
In addition to those athletes already invited to run at Loughborough on the basis of coming in the first six at the recent county XC championships, the remaining athletes and reserves will be selected on the basis of performances at the forthcoming SEAA championships, Chilton League and Oxmail League at Swindon. The final teams will be listed after the Swindon fixture. Any clubs with athletes not competing but wishing to still be considered must get the information to the County Chairman by 1st February latest.
Note: team medals will be handed to clubs at the Swindon XC event; I will also deal with the individual medals at the same venue - all will be handed to team managers. Again, any queries or errors to me ASAP!
Attached are the results from the Junior Cross Country Championships held on Sunday 7th January 2018.
Any errors should be sent to John Sear.
Can we remind athletes to check that they enter the appropriate age group based on the date shown on the information sheet? This applies particularly for U20 athletes. The U9 and U11s races are also held under the rules that pertain for UK-Athletics; although, of course, there is no provision for these age groups in UK-A rules.
Athletes competing in the championships will need to wear special numbers so that they can be identified. These will be handed to club team managers ON THE DAY.
Congratulations to Barry Darvell and James Charles (yet again!)
Barry is is now a Level 1 Field Judge, while James is upgraded to Level 2 Starter and Starter’s Assistant.
The XC Championships should preferably be entered online, with the cheque (NOT cash) sent separately. Please note the closing date for entries of 21st December - NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. Also entries without EA registration numbers will not be accepted.
It would help the organisation of the event if mass entries from clubs were made on the relevant form. Athletes should note that entries should be listed as for their first-claim club. Entries must state whether they are born in Oxon or have been resident in Oxon for the past 9 months.
On the fixtures list page there is a list of fixtures currently scheduled for the 2018 Outdoor season. The list is limited to those taking place in the County, inter-county fixtures invloving the County and Regional Championships. The list will be updated, as other fixtures become known. Club secretaries/officers are therefore invited to send fixture details to: Alan Vincent
Congratulations to the Officials who have recently gained qualifications from the governing body.
The following are all now licensed as Level 1 Field Judges: James Ansell, Julia & Paul Buckel; Nicola Couzens; Rita Cronin; and Tracy Wills.
Additionally, Richard Hart is now a Level 2 Field Judge.
