Track & Field

The majority of events in Oxfordshire are organised by member clubs, either as an open meeting or for an athletics league they are part of.

Track & field leagues which operate in Oxfordshire are:

Oxfordshire AA is mainly responsible for organising County Championships, home inter-county matches and other competitions. See the fixtures page for a full list of events Oxfordshire AA is involved with.

County Championships

The Track & Field County Championships is one of the largest events that takes place in the County.

  • The 2017 Championships will be jointly held with Buckinghamshire on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May at Horspath Road, Oxford.

  • The 2016 Championships were jointly held with Buckinghamshire on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May at Horspath Road, Oxford.

Eligibility: Athletes must have an Oxfordshire qualification obtained by birth or 9 months’ continuous residence within the former or existing boundaries of the County prior to the date of the competition. Oxford & Oxford Brookes University athletes without an Oxfordshire qualification are welcome to enter as guests. Athletes should remember they can only compete in championships for ONE County in any year; and they need an England Athletics registration number to compete in any County team.

Championship best performance (CBP): the County has archived the best performances achieved at the County Championships since the event began. CBPs are attached at the bottom of this page.

Inter-counties

Oxfordshire representative teams are competing in the following inter-counties track & field matches during 2017:

  • U13 at Kingsmeadow (29th July)
  • U15/U20 at Oxford, Horspath (9th September)
  • Senior at Kingsmeadow (2nd July)

Town vs Gown

As the name suggests, this is a competition where the County team (town) competes against the University of Oxford team (gown).
