A couple of injuries to both our Junior Girl and Boy athletes meant we had no one in this year’s finals in the junior age groups.
So, it was up to the inters and seniors to perform against the best that the rest of the other 45 counties from across the UK had too offer.
A great start by Esther Davies and Maddie Hurley (both Radley AC) on day one in the Sen Girls 100 m hurdles saw them both achieve new pbs. Sadly despite maintaining a nice consistency that would be Esther’s only pb but Maddie went on to record improvements in both shot and javelin. A slight injury meant Maddie did not finish her 800mts but despite only her one PB Esther did end up with an overall improved points total.
Eloise Hind (Oxford City AC) was our only Intermediate Girl however as it happens she was the only one we needed! Words fail as you can imagine, Eloise not only won the Intermediate Girls heptathlon but did it breaking the schools record points score (held previously by our own Jade O’Dowda) as well as going 2nd in the all-time list behind none other than Morgan Lake! Her high jump and shot pbs from day one were augmented by a fabulous javelin and rounded off with a win in the final 800mts. Only a disappointing (by her standards) long jump of a mere 5.57 (her pb is 5.93) stopped her from taking first place on the all-time list!! A great result however which has earned her yet another schools international vest in Glasgow in December. I’m sure we know who will win that one!! Well done Eloise and we look forward to you leading the senior girl’s team in 2022!
The girls managed a mere 7 pbs between them over the two days whilst the 6 boys managed a whopping 27!
The senior boys, Adam Davenport, Fionn Leaney (Both Oxford City AC)and Chris Charles (Banbury AC) had a realistic team medal chance as all 3 set a host of pbs throughout the two days with Fionn scoring 7 pbs out of his 10 decathlon events! Sadly, Chris had to withdraw after day one although he had contributed with 3 pbs before he was forced to retire!
Not to be outdone the Intermediate boys chipped in with 12 pbs between the 3 of them. With Nulam Hang Kambang (Radley AC)getting 5, Sam Rayson (Bicester AC) having one and Archie Street (Banbury AC) doing best of all with 6! The only Oxfordshire team to finish but unfortunately just missed out on medals finishing in 4th place.
All the results are in the table below and highlighted in yellow are all the PBs.

Next year’s regional event will be held in Banbury 25 – 26 June. The finals will once again be in Bedford 17 – 18 Sept.
Thanks and congratulations to all the athletes and parents for your help and support. It was a great weekend and good fun I especially liked the senior boys get together at the end with a lap of honour for all of them. – much enjoyed and inspiring new directions for many of the athletes.
