Helpers needed at Track & Field Championships

Submitted by Joe on

It is coming around to the T & F championships again in May. While the County has a number of graded officials, it is ESSENTIAL that all clubs ESPECIALLY THOSE with a major commitment to T & F help by getting two or three of their members to offer to assist at the championships. In the recent past, we have had problems providing the necessary help for all the field events (where there is always need to have people to support the graded officials).

We have discussed this at a recent meeting about the championships, and it is agreed that each of the clubs be asked to offer names of these helpers to Alan Vincent (who is acting as meeting manager) in advance of the meeting. These helpers should NOT include graded officials from the club; and they will not be asked to lead any of the events.

It would help Alan and myself if the availability of this help was spread over the two days and cover both morning and afternoon sessions. While it should be possible to fit the helpers into the best times to suit them, this can only occur if we know the names well in advance; otherwise we will have to resort to the usual approach of allocating clubs to the different sessions.

To facilitate this, can each of the clubs indicate the names of helpers and their preferred time AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to both Alan Vincent and myself. Please be assured that we are also seeking help from the Buckinghamshire clubs as well. Without this support, what we are able to offer the athletes will suffer.
