SEAA Inter-Counties

Submitted by Joe on

Oxford City did an excellent job in hosting their second SEAA fixture of the season at Horspath Road on Sunday 21 August. Richard Hart and his team of helpers worked a long and tiring day to deliver a very successful U20 & U15 Inter-Counties event.

On the field of play, the Oxfordshire team struggled a little in a very high standard competition. The County finished 11th of 16 teams in the U20 competition, with the Girls 10th equal and the Boys 16th. In the U20 category, Oxfordshire finished 12th of 16, with the Men 11th and the Women 13th equal.

There were no individual winners for the County, but several athletes notched up second places, including Alfie Rowett (U20M 100 & 200), Ben Claridge (U20M 400), Emily Thompson (U20W), and Ella Lovibond (U15G HJ).

Full results are available on the SEAA website.

From an officiating perspective, it was heartening to see a dozen County officials appointed to officiate or take ancillary roles, in addition to the Oxford City volunteers.
