With some reluctance, the clubs in Oxfordshire have made a unanimous decision against running any track and field competition in Oxfordshire in the current season.
The principal reason for making this decision is the advice we have taken from coaches and club representatives that the majority of our athletes are not fully ready for competition, having had their training programmes considerably reduced in recent months. However, consideration was also given to the matter of venue readiness and the extent to which we could guarantee a safe environment for athletes, officials and others involved in any return to competition.
We are aware of a small number of events running - or planned - in neighbouring counties and we hope that athletes who do feel ready for competition will be able to make an informed decision about whether or not to take advantage of such opportunities.
