Gemma Bridge British Champion

Submitted by Joe on

Congratulations to Gemma Bridge (OCAC) who won the British Indoor 3km Walk title in Sheffield on Sunday 12th February. The former University of Birmingham and McNeese State University student was always prominent but took a decisive lead when Heather Lewis, the Welsh and British international was disqualified within the last 400m.

Gemma, who is coached by Australian Walks Judge Mark Wall, recorded a time of 13mins 23.59 secs, a little outside her personal best outdoor mark from last year.

Level 2 Officials’ qualification

Submitted by Joe on

There has been some confusion around recent communications from British Athletics on accreditation for Level 2. One interpretation was that you had to record 10 separate experiences after attending a Level 2 course to achieve the Level 2 qualification. In fact, once you have reached Level 1, only 6 more experiences are required and it is these experiences that need to be after the course. To put it another way, you are entitled to count the first 4 experiences which were used for Level 1 towards the 10 required for Level 2.
