To all Oxfordshire Clubs - URGENT

Submitted by Joe on

I write this note in June to allow clubs to discuss the contents among their members.

Each year, the average age of the County Committee increases – we need new blood to take over some of the roles in running county events. For the last few years at the AGM, it has been tacitly assumed that the status quo will persist for the ensuing year. This is about to change.

The 3Km events will be held on the following dates:

For U15 boys and girls – at 6.45pm on 19 th July at Horspath. The closing date for entries will be Monday 17th July 2017 (at midday). There will be NO entries on the night. Depending on entries there will be one race for all athletes. The same fee per event (£5) as at the main championships will be payable; in order to minimise administration, this can be paid on the night.

UK Inter-Counties and England Championships

The 2017 UK Inter Counties & England Track & Field Championships will be held at the Bedford International Athletic Stadium, Barkers Lane, Bedford, on 29th & 30th July 2017. There is an online entry system and any interested athletes are encouraged to look at the entry criteria and conditions. The closing date is 14th July. Each county is only able to enter TWO athletes per event; hence can I suggest that interested athletes need to liaise with the County Chairman before entering!

Town vs Gown Fixture Cancelled

Submitted by Joe on

OXFORDSHIRE AA:

Dear all

It is now clear that there is a clash on Wednesday evening between the OCAC Open at Horspath and the planned Town vs Gown at Iffley Road. The University Fixtures secretary has concerns about the clash; and there are certainly not enough officials to go round both events.

Apologies to all athletes who had indicated an interest in competing.
